When people think of UV office tinting, they think of dark tints used for privacy and to reduce glare on computer screens. While these are the most obvious benefits of investing in tinting for your office windows, there are other benefits that many people may not have thought of.

Glass buildings are beautiful from the outside, and if the weather is suitable they can be nice to spend time in too. However, during the summer they can get very hot, and the glare can be terrible as well.

High temperatures mean high air conditioning bills, and constant computer monitor or presentation screen glare can get incredibly irritating. Screen filters can help, but even they are sometimes no match for the sun’s powerful glare.

Sun protection films are capable of absorbing as much as 99% of the sun’s UV rays, but you should make sure that they work well from the standpoint of preventing the office from becoming too hot.

Tint films are easy to install, and can also be removed if necessary. Removing the film can be a lengthy process, because the film is supposed to last for several years. The adhesive used to secure UV filtering tints in place is designed to be semi-permanent, and you should not attempt to remove the film yourself. If you try to peel the film off yourself you could cause damage to your windows.

Most good solar tints carry a guarantee of between seven years and “lifetime” for interior tints, and two to twelve years on exterior films. The length of the warranty will depend on whether the tint is intended for use domestically or in commercial properties. The workmanship will be covered by the company that installs the tint. As long as you follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer, you should have no problems with your tints. UV filtering tints are easy to install but the adhesive that the installer uses to secure the tinted film to your office windows can take up to 30 days to cure, and during this time you should not touch the glass or clean the windows. The curing process lets the tint settle into the glass and any visible imperfections will naturally go away as the curing takes place.

The tint will let light through your window, so don’t worry about the hazy, milky look that the window gets immediately after the tint is installed; that will go away.

Be patient and trust that once the tint has settled your office will look good and your lighting will be natural and comfortable. If you do notice any problems once the curing period is up, contact the installer immediately.
